Heavy rain to lash AP for next 2
Hyderabad: Heavy to very heavy rains are expected to lash isolated areas in all the districts of coastal Andhra and Telangana in the next 48 hours, warns the Indian Metrological Department. The city will also witness occasional rains, and at times heavy spells in certain areas.
According to IMD officials, the heavy rains is due to the low pressure area over the coastal areas of Odisha and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal. Very heavy rains can occur in the districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam of Telangana and isolated areas of coastal Andhra.
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty to convene a meeting on Thursday with all the departments concerned in view of the deep depression and heavy rains in the state. The meeting will take stock of the preventive measures that has to be taken to face any eventuality in case of floods and heavy rains.
Heavy to very heavy rains ranging from 7 cm to 24 cm are expected in coastal Andhra and Telangana. IMD officials said that the state has received 12 per cent more rainfall above normal.
This year the Telangana region received the highest amount of rains (+ 23 per cent above the usual standards) and next was Rayalseema with +3 per cent. The costal Andhra received the lowest with minus 2(-2 ) per cent above the normal standard.
Coming to Hyderabad, the city as well received moderate rainfall of 206mm (57mm above the normal standard). In the coming 48 hours, he maximum temperature recorded would be around 31 and minimum 22 degree Celsius, respectively.
