Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry, on Thursday, launched its Q10 in India, priced at Rs. 44,990.

The smartphone will be available for sale in 20 cities across 1,000 stores from Thursday. “This is our first QWERTY BlackBerry10 smartphone. The Q10 gives customers the assurance of typing on a classic BlackBerry keyboard along with our latest operating system that offers the mobile computing experience,” Blackberry Managing Director (India) Sunil Lalvani told reporters here.

The phone will run on the BlackBerry 10 operating system and sports a 3.1 inch AMOLED touch-screen. The company, formerly known as Research In Motion, had introduced the BB10 operating system in January 2013 along with its flagship smartphone BlackBerry Z10.

The BlackBerry Q10 has dual-core chipset with processing speed of 1.5 gigahertz. It sports an 8 megapixel rear camera, with auto-focus, and 2 megapixel front camera that can be used for video calling.

Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi and near-field communication (NFC).

Mr. Lalvani added that the phone has been built with carbon fibre instead of plastic and every Q10 device sold by company will have different design on its back cover.
